Christian maturity seeks expression in serving Christ. The lessons of faith and equipping thrust us toward the mission Jesus entrusted to his church. Knowing when and how to engage the world around us is another natural step in our personal spiritual growth. In the Life Transition phase of spiritual growth our faith begins to be more tangible as we begin to serve and live it out in our everyday life.
The church today is a missionary learning center. Beyond the dynamic of life connections a basic assignment of the local congregation is to prepare God's people for works of service. Each believer is a missionary to those in his or her life circle. Life equipping moves beyond relationships to content driven learning, preparation for being on mission. It moves and focuses us outward to the world Jesus commissioned us to reach.
Early Christians truly needed each other. Their life connections introduced them to the dynamic of life together, the mutuality of their relationships. So, they met regularly for Bible study and fellowship. It was their introduction to the life of faith and that which cemented them to each other and to Christ. It was life at a deeper level of intimacy. It is still the dynamic that changes us.
We like to say Jesus chose twelve men and they turned the world upside down. In actuality, God dispersed his church and it was all these men could do to keep up. With Northwood Life, we hope to repeat that process.
The abundant life isn't such a mystery. It means life to the full. We'd love to make this a quantitative measure. But, it is qualitative, the character of Christ and his kingdom, promised to those who love him. Northwood Life is the pursuit of Christ and the full life he intended for those who follow him.
