
Sonny and Harriet Holmes have been married since March 10, 1973 and are the parents of Elizabeth Carpenter, married to Scott, and the late Brian Holmes. John Lewis Carpenter is their first grand-son and Laura Elizabeth Carpenter is the first grand-daughter. The Holmes’ have led Northwood Baptist for eight years. Sonny is a graduate of The Citadel, and hold masters and doctoral degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He currently serves as President of the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Harriet has a Business Education degree from Barton College and is the Chaplains Assistant at The Citadel. They both love tech gadgets and reading.
Andrew earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas. During his time at there, he served as the youth minister for First Baptist Church of Elkins and as a Building Manager for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. After college, Andrew spent four years as an instructor in the US Navy and is now pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Columbia International University.
Chuck and Margie married in 1985. They have four children, Samantha, Nathan, Sarah, and Michael, born between 1990 and 2003. Chuck joined Northwood’s staff as our Missions and Singles Pastor in 2006 after twenty-four years of Naval service.
Dawn and Gary were married in 1994. Gary is one of the Deacons and has been the Upward Basketball Director for the past ten years. They have two children and two grand-children. Their son, Thomas, is married to Skylar and they have two children, Emma and Ian. Their daughter, Stephanie, is in middle school. They have been members of NBC since 1996. Dawn loves to work with children, read, do crafts, and make greeting cards. She also currently leads one of the Girlfriend’s g-groups - Sassy Scrappers.
Matt currently lives in Summerville with his family. His wife, Crystal, is also a musician who enjoys playing piano, saxophone, and singing. He has two children in which he loves to spend time with; Sammy is the big brother and Maddie thinks she is the big sister. Presently Matt is studying in the seminary program at Liberty University. His life verse is “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:1-2
Nick and his wife Bonnie were married in 1974 in Decatur, GA. She has been a school teacher (mostly 6th grade) for 30+ years. They are the proud parents of one adult daughter, Andrea, a graduate of North Greenville University. Nick is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering. After college he served on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ for three years. During the years with Campus Crusade, Nick felt called to prepare for ministry in a church setting, so he enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. In 1992, he was called by Northwood Baptist Church to serve as minister of education and now serves as the Administrative Pastor.
Ron and Jill were married in June 2001 after Ron graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. They moved to Summerville in 2004 to serve at Northwood. Ron and Jill both enjoy time with family around a good cup of coffee, a good book, and teaching their dog, Mia, new tricks.
