Dear Church Family,

I know that when you arrive this Sunday, you are going to be as excited as we are that things have begun to move rather quickly over the last few days.  Many of you saw Wednesday night that the field is now unavailable for parking because the stakes have been driven into the ground.  That is a good thing!  We’re moving forward.  This Sunday, you will see that the field is now fenced off and the grading has begun.   We’ll be digging soon!

In preparation for these exciting changes, parking is going to shift beginning this Sunday.  I encourage you to look at this map of the property and the new parking areas.  Very soon, both parking areas will be connected by a driveway, but this will probably not be ready this Sunday.

I want to thank you in advance for your flexible and generous spirit, and I want to ask you to be patient as we work through these minor adjustments.

If you are coming to church from Summerville, Ladson, or Goose Creek (and other areas North of the church), we ask you to turn down Otranto Road and then come down Antler Drive between K-Mart and the Library.  This will bring you directly to our new Antler Drive Parking Lot.

If you are coming from North Charleston, Hanahan, or Charleston (and other areas South of the church), we ask you to come down Greenridge Road like you would normally, and park next door in the  Stuhr’s parking lot.

Let’s reserve the Greenridge Road Parking Lot directly adjacent to the church buildings for guests and for those who have difficulty walking over from Stuhr’s or from the new Antler Driver Parking Lot.

Again, a map is on the website with clear directions, and I thank you for being willing to be flexible and patient as we grow.  I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.

Have you noticed the changes in the field?  Stakes are in the ground, little flags are everywhere marking water, sewage, and gas lines.  Gravel is ready to cover the new parking area.  We're moving forward.

All members should have received a letter encouraging you to attend this Sunday evening's family meeting.  We'll be presented with the opportunity to vote on financing.  Please come ready to participate in this next step of the process.

The church body voted in family conference this morning in overwhelming favor of the below motion.  As soon as financing can be arranged and presented to the church, construction will begin.

Dear Church Family:

After many months of prayerful study and deliberation, the Building Committee of Northwood Baptist Church will present the following motion in a special called family meeting on Sunday, December 9, 2007, at 11:00 a.m.:

The Building Committee recommends that Teamway Builders, Inc., a construction management firm in Greenville, South Carolina, construct a new sanctuary, preschool, and children’s facility according to plans approved by the Building Committee and presented to the church this day. The cost of the proposed building will not exceed $4,200,000, to include all site preparation, construction costs, professional fees, and permitting.

Plans for the new facility will be previewed with the church family during our worship service that morning. Additionally, you may view the detailed plans in the church office prior to the presentation or on the church web site at www.NorthwoodBaptist.com.

This proposal includes construction of 22,331 square feet of occupied space, comprised primarily of an 800 seat sanctuary and adjoining preschool and children’s educational space.  The building design is based on conceptual plans approved by the church in conference.  Though the proposed facility is slightly smaller than the original drawings the basic concept is unchanged.

Financing options for the new facility are still under review and a proposal will be brought to the church to finalize the construction and long-term financing at a later date.  Commitments from financial institutions have been received and are being analyzed for the best possible stewardship.

Please accept our gratitude for your prayers and support as we have labored through this process. Continue to pray as we approach this milestone in the life of our church, and as we gather in one joyous worship service to celebrate God’s gracious blessings on December 9.

Yours in Christ,
